Giveaway

I have been given the chance to have a giveaway from Amy at, Healthy Meals and food for Healthy Kids.

The giveaway is the Healthy Habits Plate.  Not only am I going to be able to give one away but I have two to give away to one person- to prevent fights between siblings.

(coconut flour bread, hard boiled egg, pears, carrots, cucumber)

We have had these plates for a couple of years and my girls love them.  Looking at the plate makes it easy for them to understand why their fruit and vegetable serving should be larger then say a slice of cheese.  Not only does it help with portion control but my kids often say they need each fruit and vegetable that is pictured on the plate.  This is a great motivation for any kid to make healthy choices and for me that is one of the most important things I want to do as a mother.  Teach my children to make healthy and good choices throughout their life.

All you have to do to enter the giveaway is leave a comment- maybe with a healthy food idea on how you are going to keep your kids bellies full this summer.  I will close the giveaway Wednesday, June 9th at 11 p.m. (Mountain Standard Time).

Thanks and Good Luck!

  2. Just like every adult is unique, our kiddos are, too! I have four young sons with varied tastes and have taught them to be aware of what they are putting in their bodies and that they can do it according to their own tastes. For instance, I have one son who absolutely loves fruit and will eat it in any form and so he normally just eats the fruit fresh from the store (washed, of course). However, I have another son who really only likes 1 or 2 fruits as they are, so I have shown him he can make fruit smoothies (which he will drink) and add fruits to his foods (such as crushed pineapple to his barbecue) in order to meet nutritional needs. I think it's important to encourage creativity in eating and adapt to unique needs when informing our kiddos about nutrition!

  4. I use a "snack tray" throughout the day for my boys. It's filled with nuts, fruits, vegetables and sometimes a treat like bread-type products. They eat when they're hungry and I know they're getting good food.

  5. I think these plates would go a long way with my vegetable hater. I recently got one of those apple corer and slicer things to encourage them to eat more apples. Now they love to eat their "slinky apples."

  9. Pick me Pick me! My boys are always asking me if what I am feeding them is healthy--I am grateful for boys who are like their dad and will eat most anything put in front of them...but it wouldn't hurt to spice it up with some fun plates!

  10. Cute idea. We've been trying a lot of new things around here but their current favorite is still smoothies and "aunts on a log." Love the plates! Maybe it will help when Julien begs me to only put one green bean on his plate! And it just might do wonders for Jonah who is the world's pickiest eater. Thanks!

  15. I came up with an idea to keep my girls snacking on healthy food. Now that my two year old has learned to open the fridge and get things out... I decided to cut up fruits and veggies and put in small bags. I store these in the bottom containers of our fridge and I am teaching her that when she wants a snack she can open the fridge and pick one of the bags to eat. That way she is picking what she eats but I am giving her a hathly variety. I think this plate would be perfect for my girls to match their food with the pictures and learn to eat more healthy.

These plates are such a wonderful idea. I have recently become a Stay-At-Home mom, and have started to research healthy tips on raising my 3 year old son to form strong healthy eating habits. These plates are a FANTASTIC idea!!

  17. I'd love to win these, I think they would help in getting my kids to eat more fruits/veggies! This summer we're going to try new food from the farmers market and also try picking our own fruit. Should be fun and hopefully the kids will be more excited to eat it!

  18. I'd love these plates for my little ones! I find that if i leave out a large bowl of fruit they just munch on that all day long and don't ever ask for other junk snacks. Grapes and strawberries work the best.

  19. Please enter me in the drawing for the plates. What a great illustration of how much of our diet should be fruit and veggies! My goal for this summer is to make more things from scratch. We're in a small apartment without a garden, but I have tomatoes and zucchini growing in containers out the back door! They taste so much better when you grown them yourself - plus I want my daughter to know that real food doesn't have to come from a store.

  20. Oh, I would love to win these for my two little boys! We have them help in our garden, make farmer's market visits a family event, and limit what we bring home. If you don't have junk foods or watch regular tv, they usually don't know about it to ask! Ha ha.

  26. My kids love. love. love meals like the one you have above! It is sooo easy to pull out a variety of things that my kids love and let them have their own little 'buffet'! Our favorites are sliced turkey, sliced string cheese, grapes, cucumbers, carrots, califlower, and ritz crackers! They love it, and I love that they can take what they love and leave what they don't!
